What is Homecare?
Home care allows individuals to remain in their own home while receiving the personalized care they need. Whether that care be with household management, medical needs, personal care or other activities of daily living.
Are Home Care Services covered under MCP, Veterans Affairs or Private Insurance?
The Provincial Home Care Program does cover some Home Care Services. This depends on an individuals eligibility. To determine if you are eligibly under the Provincial Home Care Program you can contact your local Heath and Community Services Office. They will provide you with the necessary steps to start this process.
Veterans affairs do cover some Home Care Services. Individuals should call the VAC Office @ 1-866-522-2122 to discuss their eligibility under this program. Most Private Insurance Companies has coverage for Homecare. Individuals should contact their insurance representatives to discuss coverages.
How do I pay for Home Care Service?
Total Care issued monthly invoices which can be paid through cash, cheque, money order, visa, mastercard or debit. Payments are accepted at the Total Care office at 12 Coish Place or through the mail. If services are being paid directly from a third party (ie: Provincial Home Care Program), then these invoices go directly to them.
What training does your home care employees have?
Our staff all receive an internal orientation which provides detailed information/instruction on all their roles and responsibilities as a home care provider. Staff are provided with yearly refreshers. Monthly education topics are provided online. Where necessary they also receive specific training by our Registered Nurse on any delegated function such as dressing, diabetic care, insulin injections, etc.
Are employee’s insured and bonded?
All our employee’s provides an up to date Criminal Record Check including the vulnerability sector check. These are redone every 2 years. Employee’s are covered by both general liability insurance and Workers Compensation.
Are Employee’s trained in first aid?
All our employee’s must obtain an Emergency First Aid CPR/AED certificate. We have a St. John’s Ambulance certified first aid instructor on staff which provides regular first aid course.
